Services Myovision Surface Electromyography (sEMG)

Much like an EKG that measures heart muscle activity, a sEMG uses small electrodes to measure your contracting neck and back muscles. It is completely painless and takes just a few minutes. But it can be a huge help, providing important physiological data that determines your course of treatment and evaluates your continued recovery.

Muscles have a tendency to "brace and guard" as a natural defense against pain or significant injury to the spine. When this happens, the brain signals the body to create an artificial stabilization system — which in turn can cause weakness, imbalance or referred pain in other areas.

sEMG is excellent for detecting these patterns of compensation and pinpointing exact areas that need attention. With a detailed picture of how your muscles respond, Dr. Rader can use NUCCA corrections and/or spinal decompression to ease your pain and restore balance to your hips, spine and pelvis.
