Is there any downtime after this procedures?
No, none at all. Sometimes, with just a few modifications, patients are all to resume most if not all activities.
Are any of the procedures painful?
Absolutely not. Patients notice a tremendous amount of pain relief with our procedures. So much, as they often are able to take a nap while receiving treatment.
What is the difference with True Spinal Decompression vs. traction?
True Spinal Decompression pulls in a computerized logarithmic style that is constantly varied throughout the entire treatment, thus overriding the natural resistance of the spinal muscles. As a result, the pressure in the disc reduces and leads to a big vacuum effect of any part of the disc that may be bulging or sticking out! Traction, on the other hand, pulls in a constant, static fashion that creates a significant amount of muscle guarding and spasm. Therefore, the body is able to resist this and prevent the decompressive effect from occurring. True Spinal Decompression is the best way to repair a damaged disc!
Are all Decompression machines created equally?
After having worked with different Spinal Decompression machines in my office, I know this to be not true. By far, we have had the best results with the DRX 9000 system. All the research studies done have been with the DRX 9000 and the results speak for themselves! It’s a night and day difference.
What should I avoid after having treatment on the day of?
It is best to avoid high impact activites (jogging, running, etc.) and heavy lifting for the first 24 hours after treatment. It is also recommend to not sit longer than 45-60 minutes if possible. Should you have to sit for an extended period of time, make sure to stand after an hour and walk around for about 2-5 minutes to offset the compression that can build from sitting. Also, avoid any excessive motion and bending of your head and neck. Being aware of proper posture at all times is also key.
Is there any popping or twisting of the spine associated with any of these procedures?
No. None at all. The NUCCA procedure is so light and gentle, that patients often don’t feel anything as it’s being performed. Some people have described it as having their “pulse” taken behind their ear.
