Leisa's Story

There are many different types of headaches and although they may have many different causes, they have one characteristic in common – they all cause pain.

Many headaches also cause other symptoms, including nausea and vomiting. Tension headaches, Migraines, and Cluster headaches are the most common types of chronic headaches.

Tension headaches

Can be described as a dull headache that includes your entire head. You may have sensitivity or tenderness around your neck, shoulders, scalp, and forehead too. Many times stress is the major cause of these headaches.

Migraine headaches

Commonly involve only one side of your head, left or right. These headaches seem to stem from deep inside your head and can last for several days. An aura, or visual disturbance, such as snowy vision or shimmering lights, can precede migraine headaches. These headaches can be debilitating and often cause nausea or vomiting. Light and sound sensitivity also can accompany migraine headaches.

Cluster headaches

Are burning, piercing headaches that occur behind one’s eye. They come in clusters, meaning they last for 15 minutes to a couple of hours and can happen several times a day. Cluster headaches can occur daily for months and then stop for several months and the sufferer will be symptom-free.

All of these types of headaches have been helped with corrective care. Proper diagnosis of the cause of the headaches is the key to finding the solution to the problem.
